Just Be Human™ Projects

Think It - Education Project

The Just Be Human™ initiative supports the Microloan Foundation, which provides microfinance services in Malawi, Zambia, and the Philippines. The Foundation provides small loans, basic business training, and continued guidance to groups of women in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. This enables each loan recipient to develop self-sustainable livelihoods while working their way out of the poverty trap. In 2009, the program expanded making 37,000 microloans to 17,000 women. A hand up, not a hand out – The people helped through this project become able to provide for themselves and their families – not with handouts, but with a steady income from a self-sustainable business.

See It - Humanitarian Project

The Just Be Human™ initiative supports Mercy Corps, a team of 3700 professionals that is helping turn crisis into opportunity for millions of people around the world. By trade, we are engineers, financial analysts, drivers, community organizers, project managers, public health experts, administrators, social entrepreneurs, and logisticians. In spirit, we are activists, optimists, innovators, and proud partners of the people we serve. No one is more motivated or better equipped to create change than the person whose life and future is at stake. Moreover, no one is smarter about what help is needed than the one who will benefit from that boost. At Mercy Corps, our role is to help catalyze the change that communities want to see. It is their potential, their energy, and their ideas that ultimately will conquer the difficulties they face. Our job is to listen, assist, and connect them with the resources that will help them turn crisis into opportunity.

Do It - Health Project

The Just Be Human™ initiative supports Operation Smile, a worldwide children’s medical charity whose network of global volunteers are dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults. Since its founding, Operation Smile volunteers have treated more than 130,000 children born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities and the organization has a presence in 51 countries. In addition to contributing free medical treatment, Operation Smile trains local medical professionals in its partner countries and leaves behind crucial equipment to lay the groundwork for long-term self-sufficiency.

Live It - Environmental Project

The Just Be Human™ initiative supports Oceana. To achieve real benefits for the oceans, Oceana conducts focused, strategic campaigns. Each campaign has a specific timeframe and objective that will make a significant difference to the oceans. Each campaign combines scientific, legal, policy and advocacy approaches to reach its goal. Saving the oceans may take decades, but in each of our campaigns, we aim to accomplish an important milestone in that effort within two to five years. In the last few decades, we have seen the benefits of restored rivers and lakes – for ecological and economic health – in many parts of the world. We can reap the same benefits from healthy oceans. We can restore ocean ecosystems that will sustain us, entertain us, amaze us, and generate jobs around the world for centuries to come. www.Oceana.org
